Gunpoint at the central station – Göteborgs-Posten



Gothenburg A they threatened people with a pistol at the Gothenburg Central Station, and has now been arrested. The suspect is already in custody in absentia on suspicion of violent crime. – It is not yet what he has threatened said police spokesman Tommy Nyman.

Security guard at the Central Station alerted police that the man armed with a gun threatened the other people in the toilets. The police immediately sent several patrols to the scene and the gunman was apprehended immediately.

Both security officers and several witnesses perceived that the man was armed with a gun – but despite an extensive search at the central station during the morning as the police have not found the perpetrator’s alleged weapons.

– We have not got any strength in it than, initially, we have not found a gun. We are left on the center and looking, says Tommy Nyman, police spokesman in the Western Region.



Witness: “put down your hand in your backpack”

Anne-Louise Kaldemar, working as WC hosted at the central station, were at the site when the arrest took place. According to her, there were two men who were waiting for a third man who switched on inside the bathroom.

– The one guy put his hand into the bag while he waited, she says to GP.

Ann-Louise was not frightened when the man put his hand into the backpack.

– It happened to worse things, she says.

According to her, the two men have been called to the police when they thought the third was armed. She says that the arrest proceeded calmly.



Former suspected of violent crimes

The suspected gunman, who is in her 40s, was previously arrested in its absence on suspicion of violent crime. Police are currently reticent regarding the man’s criminal history.

For the police, it is still unclear who or what gunpoint have been made against. The police will try to sort out the events and circumstances.

– It is not yet what he has threatened. We will hear witnesses on this and try to find out who has been threatened. He has directed it towards any person can rubric changed to aggravated assault, says Tommy Nyman.
