It was yesterday afternoon when they put out the bridge and would start lowering it down, as the accident occurred.
Gunnar Axelsson, project manager for bridge maintenance in Västmanland Transport Agency, talks about the process.
– Something happened that made steel beam structure which forms the lower part of farbanan came in motion and came crashing down on the abutment.
You know the current situation is not why construction collapsed.
– Everything happened very quickly. Since we secured the workplace and took care staff. Thankfully, no one was injured or killed, because this could go very, very much worse.
The destroyed bridge delays the course full work at the site.
– We must take a new start and make new timetables and consider how we can go forward with this, says Gunnar Axelsson.
