Now the street is closed off again – Norrköpings Newspapers

Old Rådstugugatan released in Hörngatan is today one of the busiest downtown streets in Norrköping with a traffic of about 5000-6000 cars per day. Therefore, it becomes difficult to obtain traffic while Eon’s work with the district heating network and Norrköping Water and Waste work to replace water pipes in progress.

– It will be a major turn-off and there will be problems, but it will be solved, says Johan Engström, traffic engineer at the technical office.

– My task is to ensure the protection of pedestrians and cyclists, then we reroute cars so they get it more complicated, he says, and hopes that road now follows the signs put up.

Erätter old net

Bjorn Persson, regional director of Eon says that what is done is to replace the old heating network.

– we decided to divide the route in stages after we had leaks on more occasions. The reason why at we did not do everything at the same time that then it would take much longer. We must also take into account such as the August festival, SM-week and similar activities, and precisely during vacation time we do not want open pit, he said.

The last stage

The final stage as now begins begins at the intersection of St. Persgatan – old Rådstugugatan and at the same time also starts Norrkoping water and waste their efforts to replace an old water pipe from the 1920s. There is a distance of about 100 meters between St. Persgatan and Nygatan.

– This line has caused water leaks on 15 occasions in the last 20 – 30 years, says Helena Aspdahl, at Norrkoping water and waste.

After Norrkoping Water and Waste dug up pit and made her work puts Eon started with her, and replace the district heating network to the north.

More jobs

Further north on Old Rådstugugatan between Tradgardsgatan and School street will also be turned off for a long time.

– Here we are going to bury a cooling line to be put to Magnentus tower in the neighborhood Customs house, said Bjorn Persson.

At this stage it will be crowded for district heating. It is in fact plenty of other lines in the street, such as gas pipelines, telecommunication and sewage lines, fiber lines and much more.

– I would say that most of the traffic is in the street, he says.
