A 500 meter long freight train has derailed south of Finspang and several 80-ton wagons have tumbled down.
The train has arrived on a plot and reportedly damaged a house.
– It is the track that has given way, says Johan Adolfsson, the rescue unit leader.
It was at 23- time as the goods train derailed three kilometers south of Finspång in Östergötland. Each car on the nearly 500-meter-long freight train weighs about 80 tons and contains rolls of paper that would be transported from Skärblacka to Norrköping harbor.
reportedly damaged house
Emergency services were called to the scene to try to stabilize the train.
– There are five, six wagons derailed. It’s the track that gave way. It must be bad maintenance here, says Johan Adolfsson, unit leader at Finspångs emergency services.
He describes that at least three of the carriages located at the side of the rails and tumbled down a slope. The train has arrived on a plot and reportedly damaged an outbuilding. The information is not confirmed yet because the emergency had not dared go closer to the site. The residential building on the site should have done and no person has come to harm.
Will there over the weekend
In order to salvage the train will be needed to build a temporary way out to the scene, said Adolfsson.
– Now we are securing the site and police cordon off because there will be some curious who takes up the train. This will probably not do something about this weekend, says Johan Adolfsson.
No passenger is on the track, only freight traffic to and from the industries of Finspång.
