The border police are preparing for more immigration controls – Sveriges Radio

Over 160 000 people for asylum in Sweden last year. Interior Minister Anders Ygeman has said he expects that up to 80,000 of them can get the no. Most people who get the leave the country voluntarily, but with an increasing number of cases in total, the number who do not also increase. Last winter had Leif Fransson’s department around 4000 such cases to handle. To the end of next year they expect to have between 15 000 and 17 000 cases more people who have been rejected in all instances, but that does not leave Sweden voluntarily.

The border police will step up internal immigration controls, such as in the workplace. They will also be felt in smaller locations where one had not previously been seen so much.

During this year , the number of employees of the border police in the South Region has grown significantly: from 90 to 360. The main activity at the moment is still border controls that about 200 police officers working with. Michael Mattsson, head of border police in the South Region expects that border controls will remain throughout the year.
