Persson: Narrow contribution to newcomers – Metro

Former Prime Minister Goran Persson gives himself back into the debate on the refugee crisis and immigration. In an interview on SVT’s Agenda he asks himself whether it is reasonable that migrants are entitled to contribution from day one, an issue that has been in Britain, for example.

– eventually people will come into a community, become a citizen, taxpayer and contribute. During the period there, maybe two, three, four years – I think the British have talked about four – it is well not unreasonable to everything that has been built up by those who live in the country not from day one to be shared by the coming new he says in the program.

Goran Persson emphasizes that he does not want to close the door to immigrants.

– My basic view is that the immigration we have to Sweden is part of the explanation we have to be going so well for Sweden. Then it went too fast last fall, there was too much at once.

This is not the first issue Goran Persson once again been an issue of debate. In March, he argued in SvD to ban begging and possibly reviewing a cap on how many asylum seekers Sweden receives.
