Thousands of people have got personal with the wrong birth date.
Without security number will not be long in Swedish society. The system was introduced in 1947 and was then one of the first in the world to include an entire country’s population. Now hold, however, social security numbers for some dates out of power, writes DN.
The problem is the four-digit code that follows the date of birth, which limits the number of Social Security number to 9999 per birth date, including 499 for women and 500 for men. Because it is born up to 500 children in Sweden per day, this does not pose any difficulties for the Tax Agency, which is responsible for registration.
Instead, it is immigrants who are suffering from the lack of personal identity. The fact is that some dates of birth are more common than others of new arrivals. Among other day about 1 January and 1 July ordinary registered birth date, then the population registration in many countries are not as well developed. Another “popular” date is March 21, which is common among people from Iran and Afghanistan because the date is linked to the Persian New Year.

it is primarily for people born in the 50s and 60s that the problem has occurred. Tax Agency’s solution is to give them a personal identification with a date close to the real, such as January 2 rather than 1 January. And so it continues, if the date is after the run out. “ But of course – what do we do if it runs out for a whole month? We are now close tabs on this,” says Ingegerd Widell, business developer at Swedish Tax Agency.
Already 2007 Tax Agency warned however to about 15 dates were run out. To date, over 2,500 people have already been fabricated Social Security numbers.
