M / S Sigrid, a ship that have been tailored to the transportation of radioactive materials, went at eight o’clock because outside Barsebäck Skåne. The ship had no radioactive waste on board and leaks no oil or fuel, writes Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management in a press release.
The ship was heading toward the closed nuclear power plant Barsebäck with empty waste containers when it ran aground. Lots were on board and that is the Maritime Administration unclear why it nevertheless ran aground.
M / S Sigrid has now been towed into deeper water and anchored northeast of the fairway. Later hull inspected.
The task at Barsebäck involves transporting demolition waste. The ship has a double hull with extra reinforcements.
