High time to change tires – Västerbotten Courier

On Friday is the last chance for car owners who have not yet replaced their studded tires to summer tires. From Saturday studded tires is banned in the country, unless there is a risk of winter conditions.

And it is the police who decide whether there are grounds to derogate from the ban on studded tires. Those who do not have a credible explanation risk of SEK 500 in fines.

The date April 15 should have sat in the Swedes’ consciousness by now. It is six years since the date of the studded tire ban was moved from 1 May until 16 April.

The proportion who choose studded tires do not seem to have been affected to any great extent by this or that three cities for environmental reasons introduced studded ban on certain streets . According to a report from the Swedish Transport Administration drove 66.3 percent of motorists with studded tires first quarter of 2015, against 68.3 per cent in 2010.
