Obnoxious parents increases children's chances – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

70 percent say that they are very large or widely perceive that students have the chance to get assistance if the parents are involved, assertive and energetic.

– We have seen over the years that the significance of the home has increased, those who receive help and support from home success. And the gap between those who can and can not increasing, says Bo Jansson, President of the National Union of Teachers (LR) who made the survey.

There is, however, great differences between how much the teachers think that students’ parents actually engaged in school enrollment. The majority of secondary school teachers believe that parents are largely doing it, while 35 percent say they are small or very small extent do it. Meanwhile, other studies have shown that some parents get involved so much that it becomes negative for the student.

A good way to get involved is to have contact with the other class parents, says Bo Jansson.

– It is incredibly important that parents maintain contact with the other parents in their children’s class, he said.

More than 1000 teachers participated in LR’s survey.
