Western Sweden on Tuesday morning, a fire of unknown cause occurred in a kindergarten in Falkirk. About twenty firefighters working hard to extinguish the fire.

The alarm came in at 06 o’clock on a pre-flashover. There was a security guard who saw black smoke coming from the building and alerted.

– It is a fully developed fire with heavy smoke, it’s an old building, says Tony Engdahl, staff fire chief of Emergency Services in Falkirk.

Have been living for unaccompanied

The preschool is a two-storey building and is situated in the town center. The fire-ravaged building has been empty for a long time, but has previously been used to house unaccompanied.

The school planned to open the business again in the fall, reports Swedish Radio P4 Skaraborg. The municipality is now a crisis meeting and looking for replacement premises to care for about thirty children who would have started at the preschool in August, reports SVT News West with reference to the municipality’s acting school director Karin Bronell.

There are at present no information on any injuries.

warn of toxic fumes

Two fire forces are in place and twenty firefighters struggling to extinguish the fire. According to Tony Engdahl should therefore be no risk of the fire spreading to nearby buildings. The fire fought for full and police have cordoned off the entire street.

There are homes near the building, but the fire should not be a threat to them right now.

– There is no risk of spread at the moment, says Perry Malmberg, staff fire chief of Emergency Services in Falkirk just before 10 o’clock.

Living in the area, however, has been asked to keep the vents and windows closed.

– Smoke is always toxic, so we urge people in the area to keep windows, vents and doors closed and go indoors if they have the opportunity, says Perry Malmberg.

at 10:50 – starts to calm down

– now we have a downward trend for the first time. We begin to see the end of it all, and may begin to phase out some strengths, said Perry Malmberg at 10:50 o’clock.

A garage next to the nursery has been in trouble since it was downwind of the fire, but has so far fared. The black smoke is also starting to calm down.

– We will soon phase out the warning to the public.

The rescue is expected to end the fighting quickly but will have security in place for the rest of day. Police have left the site temporarily. Security guard monitors the site until the emergency is finished.

– When they hear of us so we can get there and block and begin the technical examination, said Peter Adlersson, spokesperson of the police.

the cause of the fire is unclear, but police have launched a preliminary investigation of arson.
