Gothenburg police have launched a preliminary investigation concerning a suspected assassination attempt in Borås after a man himself sought emergency room with gunshot wounds. The man, according to police transferred to surgery on Saturday evening.

The police were alerted at 18:20 on Saturday night at Southern Älvsborg Hospital in Borås after a man himself staggered into the emergency room with what police suspect is gunshot wounds.

The victim is the man according to Ulf Eriksson, group manager at the police control center in the Western Region, in their 30s.

The police do not yet know where the man has been shot.

– We’re about to hear witnesses to try to locate the crime scene. At the moment we have no arrested or suspected of the act, says Ulf Eriksson.

– I have no information on his injury situation. The damage is to us at present unclear, says Ulf Eriksson.

Fredrik Zetterlund’s internal chain of command in the police in Boras. At 21 o’clock Zetterlund says that the police have heard people who may be witnesses to the assassination attempt.

– We’re about to hear witnesses. We do not yet know about the people we’ve heard might be witnesses to the actual incident or if they have just been connected to the man at the hospital. That is what we are about to check up right now, says Fredrik Zetterlund.

He says that the police know the identity of the shots wounded man. Zetterlund want does not state whether he is known by the police earlier.

– I would not comment at this stage.

How many shots the man has been shot with?

– It is not clear yet. He has been transferred to the surgery and so far the damage is unclear to us, says Fredrik Zetterlund.

At 21 o’clock, the police had not yet located a crime scene. The police had then also no arrested or suspected of the deed.

Boras has in recent years suffered a series of violent acts which primarily two rival gangs are in conflict with each other. It is unclear whether Saturday’s suspected attempted murder has anything to do with the ongoing conflict in the city.
