Taxi drivers: Why do (M) legalize unregistered taxis? – Swedish daily newspaper

On July 24 could read at SvD Business Jessica Rosencrantz (M) was critical of the upcoming investigation into the taxi industry in which you want ensure that tax law and labor laws. In the investigation there is also a point of a mandatory requirement for an approved taximeter equipment and which seeks to remove the exceptions that exist today.

Jessica Rosencrantz says that this hampers the development of creative solutions, which even her party colleague in Brussels Gunnar Hökmark believes. Hökmark believes that the government wants to prevent the digital economy and to try to stop the new technology and the sharing economy. Jessica Rosencrantz, in turn, believes that Uberpop compared with services that allow renting of housing in secondary and similar services.

Although the Transport Agency in early July found that übers subdivision, UberPOP is illegal and classified as unregistered taxis so would the Conservatives still legalize the controversial service that has received very strong criticism around the world.

Somehow hailed Uber in liberal circles to offer something new, something creative and something which will bring development forward. Even Lars Adaktusson (KD), Expressen 16/7, considers that a taximeter requirement is obsolete since the app should be considered to act as a meter. Furthermore writes Adaktusson to regulation within the industry will only penalize consumers.

Consider liberal commentators that development is to create unemployment among unskilled taxi drivers by reputable taxi companies will be beaten by rogue activity is also illegal under the Swedish Transport Agency?

They also say that Uber stands for development. Development? In our world Uber opposite of development when the profession taxi driver requires training and driver identification. It means that one is trained to become a better driver. Add the 8000 mil / year as a licensed taxi driver does, which gives a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience that allows a licensed taxi driver is a professional behind the wheel.

Are Hökmark, Adaktusson and Rosencrantz that they would rather spend their lives in the hands of an amateur, they do not know anything about what it regards driving skills than to go with a pro, just to save a few bucks? What is life worth? They have thought of that they save perhaps a few bucks when they go an unregistered taxis, but if they collide and end up in a wheelchair and it is not covered by insurance? Is it worth the little crowns they save? In a taxi through your luggage insured. Moreover, it may be worth pointing out that Uber disclaims all responsibility when it comes to ride with the cars that are connected to them.

In Sweden Uber nothing new and not Nor something creative. To order a taxi without having to call a booking center has been able to do since the 90′s through the service Cabonline, who also has affiliated taxi company at over 200 locations in Sweden. Today you can book via their app which also offers the possibility to pay through it, instead of doing it in the taxi. Smooth and easy. Likewise in Taxi Kurirs app. Sharing Economy in the transport industry are not something new. Flights Taxi and Taxi-to-train offer the opportunity to share a taxi with other travelers to the airport and train station to get a cheaper ride. It often happens that people share a taxi on Friday evening at the tavern. Uberpop has nothing at all to sharing the finances to do. It owns a third party vehicle and also make any financial gain.

To compare Uberpop with others sharing finance services, renting out his own residence in other hand is not quite the same. You rent’s not the car, but you’re doing a service with it instead, and transport is the person who has ordered the journey. With Uberpop you can even make economic gain and then it’s never a question of carpooling. Carpool, belonging sharing economy, is when two or more people, with a common goal goes to the goal, in the same vehicle. Does not stop the driver at the final destination, but drive away can never be counted as carpooling! Carpooling is something no one makes financial gain on.

Something we believe the Liberals have failed in their argument is the understanding of the function of a fixed meter. The taximeter taxi industry’s equivalent of the haulage industry tachograph. Here everything is registered and when we become controlled by the police and we will be able to print out a report with the information they want. Moreover, there are strict requirements for the design of a taxi meter, which it will manage Nordic weather conditions, clear a certain level of electromagnetic radiation and the price of the trip must be clearly visible to the customer. An app can not do either of these requirements.

We in the taxi industry wonder why politicians raise Uber to the skies as the only creative they have managed is to compete in markets without following the laws and rules that already exist . This is a threat to the already seriously affected the taxi industry in Sweden. If Uberpop will be legalized, and other similar car-sharing services, they risk the taxi company, especially in smaller towns, to go bankrupt. Who will then bussing schoolchildren, the sick, the elderly and the disabled? It is not enough the social-paid trips to a taxi company in rural areas to survive.

We at Taxi for Better Conditions are not anti-business as a right-wing think we want to have a company in Sweden that takes place on a level playing field. Think it is fine with companies engaged in illicit activities, which do not pay tax in Sweden, does not respect the labor laws in force in the country or who choose otherwise cheat to gain advantages against serious business – it is to be business hostile

Where is the line? What more industries should we strike out with untrained and free labor? Doctors? Firefighters? Healthcare? If something happens, who is responsible then?
