The evacuation in case of fire in the LKAB mine – Västerbotten Courier

There’s a fire in the LKAB mine in Kiruna.

– I can confirm that we have a developed fire over 1 000 meters below ground. We have not reached the place yet and the emergency services are on the way, says Kajsa Lindmark, communications officer at LKAB, said.

At present there is no information about injured but the evacuation is ongoing in the affected area.

– We are about to evacuate and include all that is there, says Björn Karlström, team leader at the emergency services in Kiruna, Sweden, to TT.

He can not answer how many people evacuated. Emergency services have been unable to reach the scene of the fire.

– There is a lot of smoke, says Björn Karlström.

According to the police, it is a truck that is burning in the mine.
