Finance Minister: No British sour cream – Västerbotten Courier

Economy. The government wants a broad dialogue with the business community on the impact of the British referendum. But some sour cream for Britain or any bilateral trade agreement with London seeing Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson is not in front of them.

Several Swedish companies with operations in the UK were invited to the meeting with the government. Afterwards said Magdalena Andersson that there is a concern about what brexit means to trade.

– They stress that it is important to have good opportunities to trade with Britain continue and that will not be an unnecessarily long period of uncertainty.

the Finance Minister while making clear that trade in the UK affected if the country leaves the European Union.

– It’s not that you should able to cherry-pick and just follow the rules you want and continue to have full access to the single market, she said.

Agreement at EU level

Magdalena Andersson dismisses questions from journalists on a bilateral trade directly with London. There is a point in having trade agreements at EU level, she points out.

The construction company Skanska is one of the companies that had been invited, but according to press manager Edvard Lind they are not affected much by a possible British exit.

– It is not that we need to throw us over and take mass action. There will be no immediate impact on us as a company, moreover, it is very unclear what’s going to happen, he says.

Nobia, which develops, manufactures and sells kitchen solutions, the company whose shares have so far been raging most since the Stockholm Stock Exchange opened after the weekend. Nobia has 2500 employees in the UK and 45 percent of its sales there. By noon the shares plummeted over 18 percent, but Nobia is not invited to the ministerial meeting.

“No need to panic”

– We think that the reaction, a case at 18 percent, is excessive and believe in the long run it will stabilize, says Mikael Norman, CFO of the company.

Nobia has several factories in the UK and buy many products to the factories from other Euro countries .

– When the pound is now weakened, it becomes more expensive for us to buy products from other eurozone countries, so we are affected much right now. But I do not think there is any reason to panic. There will be an uncertainty in the market before it stabilizes. We have a buffer, says Mikael Norman.
