SMHI åskvarnar of Skåne – Aftonbladet

A heavy thunderstorm draws during Thursday night over Skåne.

SMHI has issued Class 2 warning.

– This means heavy thundershowers with many discharges in a short time, says Stefan Bergman, meteorologist at SMHI.

Åskvarning applies according to SMHI mainly for Trelleborg, Lund and Malmö. There is expected to very severe thunderstorm and the weather system may also be violent downpours and strong gusts.

Class 2 warning means “very extensive and frequent thunderstorms causing huge disruptions in electricity and telephone traffic. Can also mean very powerful gusts and torrential rain, “according to SMHI.

– We are forecasting that there may be up to 20 millimeters on a six-hour period, but it can get large quantities in less time within the time span says Stefan Bergman, meteorologist at SMHI.
