The visit to the pub Big Ben on Södermalm in Stockholm could have been a record expensive. One of the guests forgot Tuesday a bag by 228 000 in cash in a corner of the hall. But the finder, stand up comedian Tomas Bonderud, took the bag directly to the police.

– All credit to the extremely honest citizens who contacted us. It’s amazing, a knighthood, says Peter Agren, Director of Södermalm police.

The bag holders had also, in desperate condition, contacted the police who therefore could connect väskfyndet with its owner. If it were not for Tomas Bonderud, comedians holding stand-up evenings at Big Ben, had perhaps carelessness had ended less happily. For now, the thief, as it is called.

– The idea occurred to me never. There was no choice, my whole life I have lived by the motto that kindness brings more than unkindness. Now hope that this will be another benefit, that this person with money is friendly to any third person, says Tomas Bonderud when DN calling.

What did you think when you opened the bag?

– When the evening was over, I saw a bag standing in a corner, it looked almost like a sports bag. Waited me that it might lay workout clothes in it and smelled … But no, I opened it and saw a series of bundles of notes in transparent bags. I could not believe my eyes – I was in an American action movie or what? says Tomas Bonderud, which after a while made a sudden breakdown of how much money it could be.

– 50,000 maybe, I thought.

Just after 23 he sat in the car and drove to Södermalm police station, stepped in and showed off the bag. That turned out to contain not less than 228,000 crowns.

It is still unclear why väskägaren had so much cash in a bag and why the same person chose to settle down with it in a pub.

According to the police, there is no suspicion of a crime and väskägaren will get their money back. But any finder’s fee will not be because the bag was found at a restaurant and not in a public place. If not väskägaren myself think it is worth to reward the finder.

– I have not yet heard of the forgetful, said Tomas Bonderud, without expressing any direct desire for this.
