128 schools and approximately 2400 students rub right now their thinking skills in Vasteras ABB arena to the win in chess fourth grade. The competition has really been going on since February, when students had to qualify for the finals by the municipal and district finals.
– It all starts with going out for about a thousand classes in the country and teaches kids play chess. In this way, we reach about 25 000 children every year, says Kent Wänman, responsible for chess fourth grade at the Swedish Chess Federation.
According to him, the game gets even the children who usually have ants in the pants to sit down. But the sedentary sport is not only peace with itself. Students will also practice his concentration and his logical thinking in terms of problem solving.
– In today’s society it is very requiring fast stimuli and quick reactions. Chess is a bit more of a pensive game.
Ten-year Luisa Ribeiro has been training with his classmates for two hours a week since the start of the semester.
– Chess is fun because you have to think strategically and several steps, she says.
Now, she hopes to first place goes to her team, Fornuddens school 4B in Tyreso.
– If we win, I will probably yell quite a lot and be very happy and proud.
