They make up for party leader – Aftonbladet

They make up for party leader – Aftonbladet

During the week, the top candidates in the battle for the party leadership emerged.

The stable group leader Acko Ankarberg against the young, seemingly more radical Ebba Busch Thor.

Within the party there is talk now about everything from age – to pregnancy.

– Busch are pregnant. We are a family party and the question is whether we want to party leaders burden on a recently given birth woman says a KD-source.

After the Christian Democrat leader Göran Hägglund declared that he would resign, the party has announced an additional riksting April 25, in which his successor shall be elected.

Since then, speculation has been many, and three of those tipped as favorites have said no: MEP Lars Adaktusson, ex-housing minister Stefan Attefall and Christian Democratic Youth League president Sara Skyttedal.

“Had been needed more male Options”

On Wednesday, however, announced the group leader Acko Ankarberg, 50, that she is a candidate. Yesterday stepped even Uppsala Municipal Ebba Busch Thor, 28, emerged as willing to take over.

Even MP Pernilla Gunther comers.

Some of the KD, they lack elective men.

– I had been very happy about Adaktusson stepped forward. This would have required more male options.

Background in Word of Life

But all the people in the party who Aftonbladet spoken to, estimates that the battle now is between Ankarberg and Busch Thor.

Busch Thor has a background in the Word of Life, stated that she believes that abortion is not a human right, and supported the more conservative candidate Mats Odell, when he in 2012 challenged Hagglund of party leader.

Ankarberg considered to belong to the political mainstream and has long been close Hägglund and other party leaders.

But among those who Aftonbladet talked to believe most of the differences are exaggerated,

– It is rather a question of what the collaborated with, and how they express themselves. Opinion standpoint, they are in fact similar. Ebba portrayed as ultra-conservative, which is not true. Acko described as a social liberal, but is more right than you may think. She has, for example, recent years have led omstyrningsarbetet in the party to hunt moderate voters, says a source.

“Is a sharper debater”

Both are considered to be skillful, and several describes that both recognize the Christian Democrats should take a bigger leap forward in integraions-, justice and defense.

Some support unofficially Ebba Busch Thor, although the outward want to appear neutral. They consider her to be a force that can turn the elaboration.

– Ebba’s young, and a sharper debater and motivator. She has been easier to find opportunities and seize them, in the political arena. Acko is also very good, but has been forced to take a boring, administrative role that made her a little rundown, says a person.

Other stand behind Acko Ankarberg, even though they do not practice it. They describe her as a “doer”, and always himself.

– The profile we have on our electorate, it is better to have the age of 50 than to 28. Ackos age and background close management may paradoxically enough to give her greater political leeway, because she will not have to prove that the old guard in the back. Ebba comes with his right stamp probably be forced to prove more left, one of them says.

“Is a queen-maker”

A couple of springs raises the fact that Ebba Busch Thor is pregnant , and is expected to have a baby in May. She has told Aftonbladet that she and her husband sees the child “as an opportunity and a joy and not as an obstacle. Is it in any party who ought to be able to combine both parenting and party leadership so surely it is the Christian Democrats.”

– But we are a family party and the question is whether we want to put the burden of the party leadership on a woman recently given birth. I think many reasons so and weighs in fact. But it will certainly be addressed during the hearings of the candidates in March, and she replies that she does not see any problem then surely it is so, says a source.

Several addresses Andrew Carlson, president of KD: s largest and most important districts, as a key figure. Who he will support is considered to be crucial for the district, and also the country’s party members vote.

– He’s a queen-maker, says a senior Christian Democrat.

Carlson himself does not want to reveal which way he was leaning.

– They are both very good. For me important to listen to what members of the California think before I run out and give my support to one or the other candidate.

Sara Skyttedal, who states that she though she declined to candidate for party leader is willing to be part of an upcoming party line, do not want to say who is her favorite. She points out that the KD declined in every election since 1998.

– I want to see more about how they want to reverse this trend. No matter where they stand in terms of integration, alliance development and December agreement.
