Farmers have been killed in two similar accidents in which a feed mixer from the same brand and manufacturer involved. Now a prosecutor launched a preliminary investigation against the Danish manufacturer GEA / Mullerup.
– Police have kept the first initial interrogations. It is now on my table again and I will decide how to handle the matter in the future, prosecutors said Maria Johansson told the newspaper ATL.
It is she who leads the investigation following the recent fatal accident that occurred in Dalsland Fargelanda last fall.
The farmer found himself inside the feed mixer when it started. Outside Gislaved 2011 went feed mixer running when the farmer was doing servicing the machine.
Several serious deficiencies were discovered in Gislaved accident, including missing an easy way to break the power to all machine components. After the accident promised manufacturer of all installed similar machines at 80 farms in Sweden would be checked, writes ATL.
According to the Swedish Work Environment Authority, this has not been done on the machine at the later accident.
GEA / Mullerup claims to not have responsibility for accidents since other installers are involved. GEA / Mullerup considers itself solely responsible for the actual feed mixer.
