Older people should be helped to improve their overall health by medicated with small doses of anabolic steroids. It says two researchers in Luleå who wish to obtain preparations drug tested.
Anders Eriksson, a researcher at Luleå University of Technology, has long studied anabolic steroids effect on the muscles. As a former country chief judge in powerlifting, he has gone from a focus on doping in sport, to be more interested in how the preparation could influence people outside the world of sport.
– I and many others have begun to ask the question: Why can not we try using this medicine, for example, to older men? Of course, not in such quantities as those who take drugs, he said.
Increased sense of alertness, increased sex drive, reduction of fat and increased muscle mass are some of the effects he mentions. And a positive extension of this could be that the high number of accidents would be reduced.
Along with fellow researcher Yelverton Tegner he hits now a kind of anabolic steroids future of medicine. And he is aware that it is controversial, since preparations today is prohibited.
– As soon as you talk about this, they think all humans doping, this is doping, and may a lot of negative emotions. But this was supposed to be something else, he said.
