Fractions and demonstration before the trial – Aftonbladet

Crime. A demonstration was held and emotions ran high when the trial on the attack Möllevången began in Malmö. Two men accused of attempted murder in connection with the fraction of International Women’s Day two years ago.

On Monday, the trial began of the two men the night of March 9, 2014 assaulted four people, two of them so severely that they were close to death. It was packed the courtroom as prosecutors Sofia Eilertsson Olsson presented the analysis of the large number of DNA tests performed with blood from the crime scene and the actors’ clothes.

The afternoon started interrogations with the four injured.

– the gang stopped and looked at us and when we went on, I heard a bottle smashed. Then they shouted “Come on,” said one of those assaulted when he described how the violence started.

New data from the system

Shortly before the trial began erupted in the waiting room a card exchange between one of the plaintiffs, the MFF profile Showan Shattak, and a man who by his own admission was in court “to comply with the circus.” But it calmed down without any need to intervene.

Initially, four people suspected of involvement but in the end were two defendants. One of them, a 32-year-old Nazi, remained far from the police, but could eventually be arrested in Ukraine and extradited to Sweden. Nazi has been unwilling to talk and consistently treated the police interrogation questions with “no comment”.

According to the prosecutor Sofia Eilertsson Olsson, he has now announced that during the trial will tell his version of events, which in this case would bring new information to the case. This occurs most likely on Tuesday.

Peaceful demonstration

Even an hour before the trial kicked off on Monday morning had nearly 70 people gathered outside the Malmö district court to show their support for the plaintiffs .

– We feel very calm and happy. The campaign is primarily about being present and create a good atmosphere outside the court in the coming week, says Matilda Renkvist from the network Scania Against Racism, which served coffee and refreshments.

The trial is expected last until Friday.
