The Facts: Killing Police shot past years

During the 2000s, an average of one person a year shot dead by police, but in recent years the number has increased. Last year, noted two cases in 2014 occurred in three fatal shootings and 2012 there were four people who were shot dead by police. Here are the most recent cases:

May 2016: A man in his 40s who was suspected of two attempted murder was shot dead by police when he would be arrested in Uppsala. A policeman was stabbed in the shoulder during the operation.

October 2015, Trollhattan: A 21-year-old sword gunman walks into a school and cut down several people. 21-year-old dies after police shoot him in the chest.

January 2015 Gällstad, Ulricehamn: A man of 35 years continues a knife attack on a woman even though the police arrived. Pepper spray and batons kind will not help. The man shot in the abdomen. He dies in hospital.

June 2014, Alafors, Ale: After the alarm if attacked police shootings of two men with weapons. After several warning shots are a yxbeväpnad 41-year-old and dies.

April 2014, Uppsala: A 34-year-old man on suspicion of domestic violence, is released from jail, go to relatives and threatening them. When the police come he rushes towards them with two knives raised. After a warning shot pushed the man in the leg, kneel down and be sprayed with pepper spray but jumping up with raised knife. He then pushed the head.

March 2014 Partille: A 65-year-old knife and spear gunman to be arrested in his apartment. There he goes on the attack against the police officers and shot.

November 2013, Hagfors: A man in a refugee accommodation behave aggressively and hitting another man in the head. When the police arrive, he runs towards them with raised knife. Two shots are fired and the man dies.

July 2013, Varberg: A mentally ill 24-year-old has a knife killed an elderly woman and injured two. He was found by police, refuses to let go of the knife and goes against the policemen. The closest standing fires several shots. Man dies in hospital.

May 2013, Husby, Stockholm: A 69-year-old knife gunman perceived as a threat to his wife. Piket Police enters the couple’s apartment. They use pepper spray, distraction grenades and shooting in the floor for the man to drop the knife. As he moves toward the police pushed him from a few feet away in the head.

January 2013, Södertälje: If a robbery targeting one of the robbers an automatic weapon – which later turns out to be false – against police who then shoots. The man struck in the head and dies in hospital.
