Sweden’s former Prime Minister and the Centre Party’s former party leader Thorbjorn Fälldin, 90 years , fell asleep on Saturday, July 23, in the home on the farm in Ångermanland.
Thorbjorn Fälldin was born in 1926 in Högsjö parish in Ångermanland. He grew up on the farm in Ramvik that was his home and dwelling even later in life.
After the election in 1976, when the Centre Party received the full 25.1 percent of the votes, became Fälldin from Ångermanland Ramvik Sweden’s Prime Minister. Along with the Conservatives and the Liberal Party was Fälldin thus having to break the Social Democrats’ 40-year government holdings.
Fälldin had, despite pledges to the contrary, had to accept a charge of Barsebäck II. The unresolved nuclear issue came to dominate government work and after two years as prime minister left Fälldin his resignation.
After the 1979 election, when they had decided to hold a referendum on nuclear power, became Fälldin again Prime Minister of a new tripartite.
Fälldin government was dissolved in 1981 because of disagreement on the tax issue. He now formed his third government, a C-FP coalition.
During the submarine crisis in autumn 1981, when a Soviet submarine ran aground in the Karlskrona archipelago was his definite order to the Supreme Commander:

After the 1982 election, was forced Fälldin in opposition. 1985 the Centre Party a poor choice and Fälldin ended as both party leader and member of parliament.
Fälldin efforts that politicians was controversial during his time as prime minister, not least because of the nuclear issue. In retrospect, Fälldin by many rehabilitated, not least for its efforts to reach a consensus within bourgeois bloc. He was also appreciated for his personal modesty and his willingness to thoroughly understand the important issues before the decision.
Thorbjorn Fälldin career in the Centre Party came to extend over four decades. He was elected to parliament in 1958 and became party chairman 1971st
Recently opened former center leader’s private archives to the public. Fälldin himself was in place when the Provincial Archives was opened in Härnösand.

Thorbjorn Fälldin was 90 years old. the closest mourners are his wife Solveig and the three children with families.
