Crime. the limitation period for Calle Jonsson, who is suspected of attempted murder in Greece in 2001, has expired – in Sweden. What happens if he is sought in another country remains unclear.
Calle Jonsson was tried and acquitted of attempted murder, on island Kos, back in 2005. But Greece’s highest court decided that the trial would be over and the European arrest warrant was issued in 2014. After being questioned by Swedish police went Calle Jonsson underworld and today the crime is statute-barred in Sweden.
– It means that he can move freely in Sweden, says Calle Jonsson’s lawyer Silbersky.
HH: Only in Sweden?
– It depends on how the Greek authorities are acting, they still will request his extradition, for example, if he would go to England or France.
It has been a long legal process for Calle Jonsson.
– 15 years! It was inhuman in some way, we must not forget that he was acquitted by a unanimous court and a prosecutor who went out and said he was pleased with the verdict, said Silbersky.
HH: Was it hard for your client that the Supreme Court took up the case again?
– of course, because it is assumed that it is done once and for all.
HH: How has he reacted, have you had any contact with him?
– I do not want to comment.
