Snöhalka down the road – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

The slippery roads has caused problems on the roads in many places during Sunday night and Monday in almost the entire country.

– It has been and still is great discomfort of the weather in throughout the country. In Mälardalen has been extra difficult, where snow has fallen on the slippery ice. Even along the Upper Norrland coast is the great trouble with snow and ice, says Roger Falk, the press officer at the Swedish Transport Administration.

– It bears repeating: Slow down and be prepared for bad road conditions.

During Sunday night was reported about forty traffic accidents in the Stockholm area, where the sleet turned to ice, which was covered with a freshly fallen snow accumulation. On Monday, the situation has been calmer, with 30 reported accidents – including five with injuries.

– There are more than normal, but not much. One sees clearly that there is snow and moddigt on the roads so there’s readiness for slipping, says Eva Nilsson at the police länskommunikationscentral in Stockholm.

Even in western Sweden has a Some slip-related accidents reported on Monday. The snowfall begins now easier and decreases slowly during the early hours of Tuesday. But the cold lies in another few days.
