Frozen Bypass costs SEK 170 million – Build World

Frozen Bypass costs SEK 170 million – Build World

The freezing of Stockholm bypass will cost about 170 million and the work is delayed about six months.

 - One of the major challenges has been to keep interest in the market for project alive, says Johan Brantmark, Project Manager Stockholm Bypass.

Earlier, the Transport Administration estimated the costs to between 170 and 260 million, but now we know that it ends at most 170 million.

The costs are mainly Transport Administration’s own business.

 - We have an organization that we had to keep going, says Johan Brantmark.

It involves, for example, applicants for permits and plans.

The freezing of the bypass causes a delay of about six months.

 - We had two large contracts out on the bill. The plan was first that they would enter January 15, but when the stop came, we ended up in an unfortunate situation and decided to move until 1 June, to be sure that we received notice from the politicians about what is what.

This resulted in a delay of four and a half months and further delays are due to subsequent contracts that also have to be postponed.

What have been the biggest challenges of the freezing of the bypass?

 - I see three major challenges: the economy, information, external and internal information, says Johan Brantmark.

He continues:

 - Management of the additional cost and the consequences freeze received is probably the biggest challenge. Another challenge has been to keep interest in the project alive among potential bidders and to have a market clarity on how we act and handle political decisions. Internal information is also very important, it is a large project with many people involved.

How do you think you handled the situation?

 - I hope and believe that we have acted with clarity all the time and that all parties perceive us, says Johan Brantmark.
