A Västtåg on the way to Gothenburg to Borås has derailed just outside Liseberg station.
– Luckily, no one injured, said Thomas Pihl, press officer at the Swedish Transport Administration.
The accident occurred at five fifteen and train can not run on its own power. Train services between Gothenburg and Borås standstill. Buses replace on the route Gothenburg – Boras.
Daniel Svantesson sitting on the train when it derailed. According to him, it should have been because the train hit a stone. Something that is confirmed by the Swedish Transport Administration.
– After the collision the train attendant went through the train and told us that we hit a rock and the locomotive derailed, he said to the GP.
He tells me that the collision was not severe but he knew it, the train then went unevenly before it stopped.
– It felt as if you drove a car with a flat tire, he says.
According to the Swedish Transport Administration, there were 18 passengers on board the train. One hour after the train stopped evacuated all 18 people.
– All walked quietly to and we walk along the track towards Gothenburg. The train was so inaccessible to so it could not be retrieved us by bus, says Daniel Svantesson.
The 18 individuals are led by three people from the Swedish Transport Administration to guide them along the track.
The accident means that it is completely stop on the route between Gothenburg and Borås, and further south towards Värnamo and Kalmar.
– We have staff in place now that will examine how we can get the train on the rails again, says Thomas Pihl, press officer at the Swedish Transport Administration.
Transport Administration calculates that the error will continue for throughout Saturday night.
– The track must be inspected first, see if it is damaged. Only then can we set a time for when the problem can be resolved, says Thomas Pihl.
How to get the train back on the rails do not know Thomas Pihl at present.
– It may on the determined location. If you can lift the train back in place and that it can run itself, or if we have to tow it, he says.
How the stone must have fallen on the rail is at present unclear.
– As it seems to be having the stone falls down on the track. Most likely from a rock wall nearby, Thomas Pihl.
Could it be a case of sabotage?
– No, currently there are no suspicions of sabotage , he says.
