At half past four o’clock alerted police about a suspicious object at J Sigfrid Edström street in central Gothenburg. A black bag was leaning against a pole outside a property where Telia customer service offices.
Police cordoned off an area of just over 50 times 80 feet around the bag.
Police bomb technicians examined the case and decided that eliminated the bag and its contents. An adjacent apartment building was evacuated before the techniques could blow up the bag.
– There was no danger to the property but we really have urged residents to stay away from the windows. But many residents stood at the windows anyway. Therefore, we took the decision to vacate the property before the bag was eliminated, says Ulla Brehm, police spokesman.
It was a private person who alerted on the bag. But police received no bomb threat.
– We have no information about any reason. Without a person at the place called out to someone that did not touch the bag, says Ulla Brehm.
20:10 police confirmed that the suspected purse pushed apart by the bomb robot. At half past nine o’clock was lifted closures and residents could return to their homes.
Police bomb technician could not find any traces of explosive parts and a notification of false alarms has been written. The remains of the bag will be examined by the technical division.
Barriers meant that trams could run into an adjacent depot. The trams were parked in place temporarily on the fast track between Finland and Angered. Trams in traffic drove over time through Redbergsplatsen. The barriers also affected Telia customer service who could not receive calls.
