Borg: Pessimistic in the euro zone – the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Developments in so well Middle East and Russia are worried the government. During a press briefing on Tuesday announced Finance Minister Anders Borg and Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, Sweden’s public finances are stable despite a darker developments in the world market.

– We have a location that can hit Swedish exports and activity at least for -14 and -15, since we believe in an intact recovery thereafter, said Anders Borg.

Above all points the two ministers on the spiral of violence in war zones in the Middle East and Ukraine. Russia has emerged to be one of the greatest causes of concern.

– Situation in Russia is very cumbersome. We have there a nationalist and populist government and we will see significant negative effects on the Russian economy in the coming quarters. Unfortunately, this will probably turn on Eastern and Central Europe. An increasingly pessimistic assessment is emerging in the euro zone and in Germany, said Anders Borg.

The Finance Minister was during the press briefing clear that it still will not be any question of austerity from the Swedish side. Sweden, which is Germany’s biggest export market, will accelerate rather than slow down.

– Looking ahead to 2015 and 2016 so there are few comparable countries that have equally strong public finances. We shall use the position of strength and meet a weaker without bringing austerity, says Anders Borg.
