More than one in five municipal politicians in the municipalities in Skåne have defected during their term. In some communities, nearly half of all members are replaced. It’s worst in Höganäs, which has 19 of the 41 members quit.
– I felt that I had a hard time putting food pattern, both to make a political career, careers, and keep the family together, says Mia Harbor Valley (M), which is one of those who gave their delegates place in Staffordshire.
Do you feel that the party has supported you and helped you to reconcile everything
– No, I do not experience. I have not been able to be on some preliminary meetings because of family or work, and that means you can not be with and listen to all the decisions, but you still have opinions. Then it is difficult to deliver them on other occasions. Have you missed the moment so you are left outside, I perceive it as.
A compilation of news agency Siren has done shows to more than one in five Scanian municipal politicians have chosen to quit during this the term. In Staffordshire, 17 of the City Council’s 41 members left. Among the municipalities in Skåne is the only Höganäs as having more defections. There, 19 of 41 members quit. – I am truly amazed that there are so many ending, but at the same time, many voluntary hours to put down both the loading of materials, informal meetings, hand out flyers and coffee at six in the morning. There are many hours to do that is difficult to get together for a working woman like me, says Mia Harbour Valley. There can be many different reasons why politicians choose to leave their locations. Some do it maybe because they are moving to another municipality. Of those 17 who stopped in Stafford are the majority, nine persons, Sweden Democrats, and four are Conservatives. Line Weckström just like Mia Port valley provided a moderate councilors place – but for other reasons. – I left in September in the fjord, and then I chose to leave because I went over to the Social Democrats. I simply made a shift in my ideology and came well in the years that I had my ideological thoughts elsewhere, she says. Of the 315 politicians who left their places in Skåne 116 women, and several of them have been replaced by men. This means that Scania council parishes today have fewer than 15 women at the beginning of the term. Mia Harbour Valley and Line Weckström in Staffordshire think it may be more difficult to be a woman in politics. – We make unreasonable demands on ourselves. It is important to note that it is not so that a man has less to do or can take up more space in politics, but that we expect so much of ourselves as women. The man might as well stay home and cook dinner, when I go to the meeting, but we’ll do both, says Line Weckström. Do you see any problems with those that you leave politics?– As a 47 year old woman, I think that I represent a large number of working-age women. Therefore, our opinions really important. We need to be even more, and we need to be more cared for and welcomed into parties, says Mia Harbour Valley.
