Kiruna. The glacier at Kebnekaise melts and it’s only a matter of time before it loses its position as Sweden’s highest peak, reports SVT Nordnytt.
The official measurements of the southern peak is usually the peak being at its lowest in August-September. Last year, the southern peak only 2.7 meters higher than the north peak – which has no glacier drops. After this hot summer is now great excitement for this year’s survey.
– It will definitely be a lot less now, says Peter Jansson, Professor of Physical Geography at Northern New.
