The big forest fire in Västmanland has made itself felt far beyond the county’s borders. Early in the week moved northward and winds brought with them the smell of smoke and haze as far as the northern Norrland. Yesterday the wind had changed direction eastwards and its residents woke up to the smell of smoke.
SMHI has made a forecast of smoke propagation in the coming days.
– During the morning and this morning, it moves out over the north of Uppsala, Uppland coast and possibly even Roslag Coast and Norrtälje area. In the afternoon and evening, it will up to the Gävle. There lies the left early on Saturday morning, but can also get down between Uppsala and Västerås, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at SMHI.
The wind spread the smoke east towards Stockholm on Thursday has continued in the same direction and has passed Åland.
– It continues towards southern Finland. But the mix of course out of the way and becoming weaker. There is quite a lot less smoke concentrations when compared with the coast of Uppland, says Sofia Söderberg.
