Snow storm and hurricane wind in the mountains – Helsingborgs Dagblad

SMHI went out with a class 2 warning for mountains and northern Norrland. In the southern parts of northern contented himself Authority with a Class 1 warning, the lowest level in the three-step scale.

– It is a rather difficult weather in the mountains with strong winds, drifting snow and reduced visibility, says Marcus Sjöstedt, on duty meteorologist at SMHI.

The two counties of Norrbotten and Västerbotten held on Saturday also met with among other emergency services and utility companies.

– We have oriented each other so that everyone is informed of the situation, says Rikard Aspholm in Norrbotten County Administrative Board.

At lunchtime measured a wind speed of 32 meters per second in Hemavan in southern Lapland. That’s well above the storm the border that runs at 25 meters per second.

At midnight it was anticipated, however, that it would blown itself in the context of low pressure moved towards northern Finland.

Svealand and Götaland escaped from the worst winds. But even on Gotland was blowing hard on Saturday and a Class 1 warning was issued.
