The question of which properties Christian Democrats’ new leader should have is baking in the party right now. Contrary to what many may think, it does not apply to be too dynamic and passionate in the political conviction.
mediocrity will usually longer than with fervent appeals, says Jenny Madestam, a political scientist at Södertörn University, who has studied how the party leader is appointed.
– If you aspire to become party leader, you must not be too clear ideoligiskt. Or rather, you may not have taken a stand on controversial issues. All parties have ideological factions and then it is good if you are perceived as lying somewhere in the middle, says Madestam.
Ebba Busch Thor , Mayor of Uppsala, and party secretary Acko Ankarberg Johansson considered be the main candidates to KD’s party leader mail after departing Göran Hägglund.
While there are also other nominees, which Penilla Gunther, who also said that she is a candidate, and the Christian Democrats’ economic political spokesperson James Forssmed.
But it is still Ankarberg Johansson and Busch Thor standing in the center of interest, says Hasse Boström, political reporter for the newspaper Dagen, called the Independent on Christian principles. While it seems to weigh evenly between them so he dumps to Busch Thor the victor:
– What speaks for Ebba Busch Thor is that she has a little tougher appearance in the media and have little easier to become a TV celebrity. Acko Ankarberg Johansson is not at all bad in debates and those same hang either, but for the party, it is probably a bit tempting to get a young woman who has a modern appearance, says Bostrom.
Political scientist Jenny Madestam says much the same thing in terms of Ebba Busch Thor’s advantages as party leader. But she adds that it is Acko Ankarberg-Johansson, who have the qualities usually associated with a party leader.
– The Ebba Busch Thor, it’s more of a warm, charismatic personality that goes through the box. Powerful! While Aack Ankarberg more is what you usually tend to choose a leader on the basis of, nämlligen; more of a right candidate, has the ability, experience, extensive experience of the party, says Madestam.
Then, of course, the question how rewarding it is, this having to guess at party leadership candidates . Political scientist Anders Sundell at the University of Gothenburg are skeptical and are currently investigating how the public guesses stands in relation to the experts.
Research from other countries shows that it goes something still out, says Anders Sundell, a political scientist at the University of Gothenburg.
– Research from the US shows that the experts are not very good at predicting the future, when it comes to politics. It is about as smart as monkeys, throwing dart on different options. This test’s not in Sweden, but you just ask the experts what they believe and then evaluates not if they actually have no evidence of what they say or if they get right to the end, he says
Anyone can go into politologernas website and fill out a questionnaire about who they think will be KD’s next party leader, and how confident they are in their guess. Right now leads Ebba Busch Thor. But Anders Sundell also doubts that task.
– There are no differences among political scientists, journalists and ordinary people in how safe it says it is. I think you should take everything with a grain of salt and there are no experts here simply, when it comes to predicting the future, says Sundell.
