district court in Uddevalla decided at noon to condemn the man who threatened to blow up himself and his daughter to ten months in prison for aggravated assault – although both the defense and prosecutors urged probation.
incident occurred in early July in Bärfendal outside Dingle. Both the prosecution and the defense agreed that the incident was triggered by man’s abuse of alcohol, and therefore sought on probation and the treatment of addiction.
But the district court disagreed with the sentence, but felt that the treatment was too short to be correspond to a penalty for the offense. They sentenced instead to imprisonment for ten months. Per-Erik Rinsell as a prosecutor in the trial, told how afterward on the verdict:– I find that they make a different assessment than I did, and it is the court which has the right, he says.
The fact that alcohol problems were the cause of the incident in early July, both the defense and prosecutors agreed. If you passed on their claims for probation, the man had to go through a treatment plan for about six weeks, but it did not like the district court was sufficient as punishment.
That he now instead sentenced to prison means he probably will not get equal treatment for the addiction.– It’s probably quite economical in the prison. It’s possible but it will probably be difficult, says Per-Erik Rinsell.
