Even short races reduces death risk – Swedish Dagbladet

In a study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology included 55,137 adults aged 18 to 100 years. Researchers followed the group for 15 years to examine the relationship between löpvanor and longevity.

During the period died 3413 participants. Of the 1,217 who died from cardiovascular disease had a quarter löptränat.

The runners in the study had 30 percent less mortality from any cause and 45 percent less likely to die of heart disease or myocardial infarction. Runner lived on average three years longer than compared to those who did not ran. From a public health perspective, the promotion of running as important as avoiding smoking, obesity and high blood pressure, according to the researchers.

They found that the health benefits were the same no matter how long and fast runners in the study ran. There was no difference in mortality between running less than an hour a week compared to running over three hours.

According to the study’s lead researcher Duck-chul Lee gives 5-10 minutes of daily running similar, if not greater, benefits for healthy but sedentary people compared with 15-20 minute effort.

A short race today? Now sluggard just poor excuses left for not.
