Z has cut through – threatening bridges and power plants – Aftonbladet

A vassrugg are adrift in Ältebosjön outside Gästrikeleden-Hammarby.

It flows down to a river, threatening bridges and a power station, according to emergency services.

– it has been released and it is blowing quite a bit. We have an old mansion here and an old bridge that we are afraid that it will go in and get caught, says the witness Wencke Johansen Persson, 46, told Aftonbladet.

emergency services were called at 17 o’clock on the grass platelet unclear reason cut through.

These are a kind of vassrugg approximately 25 meters long and five meters wide. It has stuck to the river that runs into the village Gästrikeleden-Hammarby. Emergency services are trying to tow the island, but has no hope for it to succeed.

– We are trying to tow this island with three boats, but it does not happen a lot. Probably it’s just too much mass to move on, says Pär Tornhult, internal command at Gästrikeleden rescue, at 18:40 o’clock.

“We are a bit worried”

If it continues to slide risk island being caught in a power station.

– We are a bit worried about this plant. But it is 800 meters away and it takes some time for it to get there. The father’s not a dreadful speed, says Pär Tornhult.

Wencke Johansen Persson lives in the nearby village.

– Island have released and entered the mouth of the river that runs into the village and it has wedged itself firmly, but sitting just stuck with some trees and branches around, she says.

– the wind is quite a lot and it risks slipping further. We have an old mansion here and an old bridge that we are afraid that it will go in and get stuck.

Can be buried apart

Further afield there are sluices at the power station.

– And end it there, then we probably flood the small village here, says Wencke Johansen Persson.

If it appears impossible to tow the island, it will be dug down.

– Then it is Sandviken Energi, which owns both the bridge and power plant, which will take care of it, says Pär Tornhult.

the plant does not produce electricity at the moment, according to emergency services, and the flow downstream is minimal . If reeds continues its journey assess the emergency services that will stick in several places along the road to the power plant.
