in Gabon, the constitutional court decided on Friday to reject the opposition’s protest over the outcome of the elections at the end of August.
the Elections in the oil-producing country was won by incumbent president Ali Bongo, whose family has ruled the country for nearly half a century.
Oppositionskandidaten Jean Ping, who came second in the election, alleged that vote-rigging had occurred in one of the areas where Bongo has its biggest support.
the President opens a dialogue with the opposition after the announcement.
“I call on all political leaders, including the defeated candidates in the election, on 27 August, to the political dialogue,” he said in a speech broadcast on tv.
He hopes with this to be able to steer the country out of the political crisis that started in the and with that he was re-elected.
