Fire in mine – 900 meters underground – Aftonbladet

On Sunday morning were the emergency services to a fire in the LKAB mine in Kiruna.

A loader which stood at 935 m depth had caught fire.

In the mine was 256 people.

– The smoke must in some way, says the incident commander Mats Bergsten.

At the time 9 on Sunday morning was alerted police and rescue services to the LKAB mine in Kiruna.

The SMC Mats Bergsten says to Aftonbladet that it is a loader 935 meters underground where the fire started.

TT later stated that 256 people were working in the mine when the fire started.



Extinction has begun

His Österlund , county spokesman at police in Norrbotten, says that no person has been reported injured.

At 12 o’clock police said that the fighting had begun.

– Emergency Services have managed to get down and have started to extinguish the fire, said Hans Österlund.

The County Council writes in a press release that paramedics are mine and no one has been injured.

Evacuation in progress

According to Mats Bergsten, who himself is at 700 meters depth, fighting to take a long time.
