it was almost 8 and the morning prayers had just ended in the mosque in Bredäng centre. Everyone had gone home except one person who sat still and read the koran.
Then came an unknown number of people entered the building, sprayed swastikas and any incitement to hatred on the walls and threw the firecrackers and fireworks into the premises. No one was hurt but, according to Mustafa Tumturk, who himself was the founding of the mosque in 1985 and has been in contact with those responsible, was the man who was in the room shaken.
” this is nothing you would expect but people are more concerned now than in the past. It is hard to grasp what’s happening in society, both internationally and in our country. You don’t recognize Sweden any longer, ” says Tumturk.
As a representative in a muslim organisation, he himself hate mail and hatsamtal almost every day. He stresses that the whole of civil society must be involved to curb the upptrissade the mood, that it is not enough polisåtgärder.
” We need to start talking about our co-existence, it is unsustainable when people go around and are worried of being attacked. The people who are exposed to this type of attacks will also often from very troubled areas, and has experienced the fear for real. I don’t think people understand what emotions they evoke to life.
A report has been prepared on the vandalism and incitement to hatred, but no one has been arrested, suspected of the crime.
