WHO discusses unproven cures Ebola – Västervikstidningen

outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, according to the organization constitutes a unique situation when you have a disease with high mortality, but few proven therapies.

“We need guidance from medical ethicists about what that responsibility is to do” said WHO Assistant Director-General Marie-Paule Kieny in a statement on Wednesday, according to Reuters.

WHO reported earlier the same day that the number of people killed in the outbreak of the deadly virus in West Africa, has risen to 932, after 45 people died between 2 and 4 August. The number of suspected, probable and confirmed cases of disease during the same period rose by 108 to a total of 1 711. Most of the new cases were reported from Liberia.

Previously reported Nigerian authorities about five additional cases of Ebola confirmed in the country , making a total of seven cases now confirmed. A second Nigerian man has died in the aftermath of the deadly virus, in addition to the first infected who brought the virus to Lagos, Nigeria, Liberia on July 20, says AFP.
