– We must ensure that we can have a good communication when it comes to defense, security and public order, says minister for defence Peter Hultqvist (S) to TT.

” It is clear that the security policy developments mean that this becomes even more urgent, even if I think it has been justified also in the past to solve it in this direction.

In december, would the spectrum of the so-called 700 MHz band start to be auctioned. Terrestrial digital tv would get wife of to the the benefit of mobile broadband and telephony. But after that the government has now decided to keep on the åtråvårda frequencies, another year blew the national Post and telecom agency (PTS) of the auction.

the Plans for the spectrum has received harsh criticism from the sole authorities. The armed forces, the Police and the Swedish civil contingencies Agency (MSB) has pointed to major societal risks.

Police went one step further and warned that an auction could bring Sweden’s security at stake. In an interview with the Swedish newspaper svenska Dagbladet this summer, wrote Åsa Nilsson, operational leader for security protection at Säpo, to “vital infrastructure is at risk in ownership is not appropriate for the Swedish interests”.

Peter Hultqvist parts of the assessment.

– the Development of our business environment shows that it is necessary to do it here, ” he says.

TT: Can you be more specific about what a threat it would be?

” I don’t want to go into it, but to say that it is necessary to do this.

the MSB has been tasked by november next year to submit a proposal on how all interests will be able to sit in the 700 MHz band. Digitaliseringsminister Peter Eriksson (MP) in the hope that a decision will be made shortly thereafter.

TT: it Is not important to Sweden as soon as possible get access to a better mobile broadband?

– It is definitely so. It is well, it is negative with this decision. It is a limited natural resource, radio frequencies. It is a bit of a waste that we don’t use it, ” says Peter Eriksson.

” the armed Forces and the MSB must ensure that you will be able to produce their evidence in good time. It is not good if it’ll be even longer, it may not do.

Peter Hultqvist agree with the importance of quickly getting to the shot, but throws in a caveat.

– We shall not be making any shot from the hip. It should be a robust and sustainable long-term solution that makes it work, ” he says.

Among the telecom operators began to quickly boil after the government’s announcement. Telia writes in a comment that the decision “greatly complicate and delay the important deployment of mobile infrastructure in rural areas”.

But the defence minister is not impressed by the criticism.

– the public Interest must always go before the commercial interest. The authorities it is all about is a part of the essence of the power of the state. It have to have respect for, ” he says.
