Water leaks inside the Ringhals 2 – Swedish Radio

It leaks water inside the Ringhals reactor two. The leak has been discovered inside the reactor containment during the review work in progress.

At a test pressure inside the reactor containment was found that it was leaking a lot more water than previously at a bottom plate. The calcareous water is there to prevent corrosion. It is not radioactive.

– There is an internal leak to a drainage system located inside the reactor containment, just to take care of a leak, says Anna Stålnacke, Communications at Ringhals.

The event was reported to the Radiation Safety, and allow the restart of R2 has been postponed to 18 October.
