Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt believes it is important to evaluate and draw lessons from the fire and fire fighting.

Around 14 o’clock arrived Fredrik Reinfeldt to Operations in the Ramna Conference and Hotel. He received a review of brandläget together with the incident commander, the chief of staff and representatives from the armed forces. He also took the opportunity to speak with management staff before he met the assembled press.

“What strikes me is how extensive and large rescue efforts are so many that are inblanade and the width is on skills, said Fredrik Reinfeldt among others.

When asked what responsibility the government has regarding the rescue operation said Reinfeldt:

– We have long been a point of order in Sweden that it is not leading politicians who have operational responsibility for this type of action, but it is the authorities and rescue leader who has great powers “

– Mitt and the government’s responsibility is to evaluate and follow up the rescue efforts that we can learn for the future.

Reinfeldt was also asked if it was the case for Sweden to buy water bombers who are now used to contain the fire.

– the issue was up in the mid-1990s and then decided not to buy some plan. They are very expensive and requires specially trained pilots. But we’ll make an evaluation of fire work so the issue may come up again.

Reinfeldt concluded his visit to go helicopter over the fire-ravaged area to see the extent and impact of the largest forest fire in Sweden in modern times.
