After a prolonged course with periodic fasting before a procedure using a catheter passed away a 16 year old kidney boy at Skåne University Hospital in Lund. The incident is reported now by the lex Maria.
The young patient was suffering from kidney failure and was feeling additionally mentally ill and did not eat or take their medication.
The doctors planned a bukdialys. But confusion about what care body that would put the catheter delayed the surgery. For two weeks was canceled surgery preparation – including fixed – six times. After a temporary transfer to an adult department worsened the boy’s condition rapidly and then he died.
According to the chief medical Marie Ekberg may be gaps in the continuum of care and lack of focus on the perspective of children have influenced the course, although it is not at all certain that the death could have been be prevented.
