It may take a day or more before the train service between Stockholm and Eskilstuna can flow normally again after a freight train derailed in Nykvarn this morning. It says Transport Administration.

contact lines, switch, and sleepers broke in the accident.

– You are about to investigate and see how much damage that has been at the facility and removal and salvage work and try to ascertain how much needs to be addressed after the morning event.

The freight train tracked for unknown reasons out at approx. 8:30. It caused complete shutdown of the Svealand line.

Rail passengers between Eskilstuna and Stockholm was forced to travel through Vasteras, stated Transport Administration, which later came the news that they could ride the bus between Läggesta and Södertälje south and vice versa.

– Trains turns when in Södertälje south and Läggesta. So you have to change transport there. When the traffic can resume on the entire stretch I do not know. Late afternoon or evening, we may have a Race image, said Tony Persson, director of maintenance at the Swedish Transport Administration at 16 o’clock.

It is still unclear why the goods train derailed. No man is reported to have been injured.
