World’s fastest train hit a new record – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Without wheels, hovering about ten centimeters above the rails, has a Japanese high-speed rail for the first time managed to run faster than 600 kilometers per hour. The so-called maglevtåget supported and driven by a magnetic force, which greatly reduces friction compared to conventional trains. The new world record was set on a test track near Mount Fuji, but Japan hopes to take the train into operation in 2027, on the route Tokyo-Nagoya. The cost is just as astronomical as the speed: 12 trillion yen (nearly 900 billion), only the first route. The Japanese magnetic train arrived on Tuesday in a speed of 603 km / h. With passenger train will be run in “only” around 500 kilometers per hour.
