The government more pessimistic about unemployment – Aftonbladet

The government has set the goal for Sweden to have the EU’s lowest unemployment in 2020.

But the goal can be very difficult to reach – when the government is now looking more pessimistic about unemployment than last fall.

– We do everything we can to meet this goal, says Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (S).

Now, the Government considers that the unemployment rate will be around 7.1 percent in 2017 and 6.4 percent in 2019, compared with autumn percentage figures that showed 6.7 percent for 2017 and 6.1 percent 2019th

Thus, the government’s target of Sweden shall have the EU’s lowest unemployment in 2020 to be threatened.

Today, it would mean a decline to about 4.5 percent unemployment if you’ll end up in countries like Germany and Austria in the statistics.

“Takes important step “

But Magdalena Andersson says the government will do everything to reach his goal.

– What we are doing now is taking important steps, both in terms of conducting a more active industrial policy and make investments in infrastructure but also the professional development of people unemployed. It will mean a lot, she says and continues:

– But I envisage that we will come back with more action during their term.

According to the Minister of Finance, it is about creating good conditions for business, so that it chooses to invest in Sweden. But also to create new jobs in the public, including in areas such as transport and welfare.
