To increase the supply of kidneys that can be transplanted in Sweden, there are plans to introduce a so-called renal replacement programs, reports SR echo.
The idea is that one should be able to match potential donors and recipients across the country, as they already do when organs become available from a person who has died.
The system has been successfully tested in several other countries, according to the transplant physician Lars Wennberg, Karolinska University Hospital.
